Etymology

Poppets Hill is so named c. 1840TA . Cf. Pucheput 1148–55 (c. 1200), c. 1180 (c. 1200) Thame, Pukeput 1180–1200 (early 13th) Thame. 'Goblin pit,' v. pūca , pytt . The same name has become Poppets in Sx, v. PN Sx 37.
