Etymology

Minchincourt Fm (6″). Cf. Mynchin Courte 1630Bodl . Minchen is an obsolete word meaning 'nun' from OE  mynecenu , feminine of munuc , 'monk.' The word occurs in a number of names in the county, cf. Minchen's Barn (6″) in Taynton, Minchin Recreation Ground (6″) in Dorchester. Cf. also Minchery Fm in Sandford on Thames (186).
