Etymology

Shitpilchmill (lost) is (mill called) Scitepilche 1278–9 RH, Scytepelchemelne , Schytepelchemelle 1285Ass . v. myln . The first part of the name is a term of abuse similar to the more modern shit-breech , the second element being pilch , 'garment.' It was presumably a nick-name of the miller. Cf. Doders Mill 400. v.
