Etymology

Decoy Pond. Decoy (NED sb1, 'a pond or pool out of which run narrow arms or “pipes” covered with network or other contrivances into which wild ducks or other fowl may be allured and there caught') is fairly frequent in minor names, and has been noted in Nth, Ess, Nt and Ca. Cf. Decoypond Wood on the 1″ map between Charndon and Middle Claydon in Bk, and Decoy Pond near Boarstall in the same county.
