Etymology

Cutt Mill is le Cuttedemulne c. 1230 (c. 1280) S, Cuttydmylle 1420–1MertR , Cuttydemyll 1451–2MertR . Cutmill Fm in Stanton Harcourt takes name from Cottedmulne 1278–9 RH. The name, of which there are numerous occurrences in other counties, refers to a mill with an artificial cut for the conveyance of water. v. PN Wa 205.
