Mogpits Wood is Mogeputte (bis) 1278–9 RH (p), Moggeputtys 1410 (c. 1444) BC, Munkeputtes 1426–7 AD, Mugputtes 1440Harl , Muggeputtes 1450 Cl, Moggepittes 1606–7Survey . Second element the plural of pytt. A personal name *Mucga , which Ekwall (DEPN) suggests as a possible first element of Mugginton Db, would be a possible first element here also. The names Mocca , Muc (c )a are on record.
