Etymology

Adwell Cop. Cf. Copt Field , Adwell Copt c. 1840TA . This tumulus is probably the copp referred to in the name Copinghomewey , Copinghemewey , which appears c. 1230Bodl . It means 'the way of the people at the cop,' hǣme , 'dwellers,' apparently having been combined with a connective ing .
