Etymology

'Ord 's nook,' v. healh . Ord is not on independent record but compounds of Ord - are numerous and the patronymic Ording is found in DB. Cf. the common use of the Scand  cognate Oddr and OGer  Ort (Förstemann, PN 1173) and Ordsall (PN La 32).
