Etymology

Blaco Hill is Bachowe 1280 Ebor, Baccowecarre in Mattersay 1420 ECP, Bakawe t. Hy 8MinAcct , Blakaw Hill 1775 C, Blakow Hill 1793 Cary. The second element is haugr , 'hill.' The first is uncertain. This name seems to show the same intrusive l which we find in Blackstone Hall supra 81.
