Etymology

Hartshorn Fm is wood called Herteshorn 1256 Ipm, parcum de Hertishorn 1275 RH, Herteshorn park 1288 Ipm. Hartshorne (Db) seems to take its name from the prominent hill called Horn Hill which there projects into the valley. It may be that the farm (or earlier the wood) here takes its name from the sharply bent hill on which it stands.
