Etymology

Babbington is Bab (b )ington Moore 1619 Wills, 1630Map , Babington 1640Recov . The name is probably manorial rather than local in origin. There is mention of a Hugo de Babington in connection with Everton in 1270 (Ass ), but that is in the north of the county.
