Etymology

'Gamel 's farm,' v. tun . Gamel (OScand  Gamall ) is so common a name in the Danelaw that it would be dangerous to assume that he must be identified with the Gamel who was one of three holders of land here in DB. juxta Eton , i.e. 'by Eaton' to distinguish it from Gamston in Bridgford infra 231.
