Etymology

OE  fiscera -tūn , 'farm of the fishermen.' The place is still a favourite spot for anglers. Cf. Fiskerton (L), Fiskertuna 1060 (c. 1200) KCD 808. The sk is due to Scandinavian influence, v. Introd. xxiii.
