Etymology

Burrowsmoor Holt. Cf. Boresmere c. 1230Thurgarton . The first element in this name is probably OE  burh, 'fort,' the reference being to the Roman station at Margidunum . Hence 'pool belonging to the burh.' The element burrow repeats itself in Burrow Fields supra 222.
