Etymology

This name should probably be taken in conjunction with Tansley (Db), DBTaneslege , and tanes bæce in Herefordshire (BCS 1040). As suggested by Dr Ritter, these names point to an OE  pers. name Tān , which would be a parallel to OHG  Zeino (Förstemann PN 1387). Hence, 'Tān 's bank.' For the form Tansworth cf. Milton supra 150.
