Etymology

'Strīc 's farm,' v. tun . For this Anglo-Scandinavian pers. name (ON  Stríkr ), cf. Wulnoth Stricessune (BCS 1130) from the same district. Bridges (ii, 196) notes that Stric was the 'Saxon' holder (TRE) of land in the neighbouring village of Wollaston, and there can be no serious doubt that it was this man who gave his name to Strixton. Stric also held land in Bozeat.
