Kingsthorpe Lodge is Chingestorp 1086 DB, 1223 ClR, Kyngesthorp , Kyngisthorp 1428 FA, Kynesthorp 12th Survey, 1270FF , 1275 RH, 1348 Ch, Kinesthorp 1330Ass , Kenesthorp 1348 Ch, Torp 1209–35 WellsR, Trop 1275 RH. 'Village belonging to the King,' v. þorp . In DB the manor belonged already to Peterborough Abbey so that the association of the place with a king must belong to some early period of Anglo-Saxon history.
