Etymology

Ryehill Fm is Est Ryenhull 1295 AD iii, Ruhulle 15thDaventry .Morton (35) tells us that in each of the three fields into which the open-Field lordships were divided, there was a parcel of sandy or looser soil, which they usually called Rye -Hill from its elevated site and its fitness for that sort of grain.
