Etymology

Topographically, Haselbech is much more likely to be named from the high ground on which it stands than from either of the slight valleys which fall away from it on the north- and southwest, so that we probably have the word beche , bache , 'hill,' as in Burbage (Lei), rather than the better known bache , beche , 'valley.'
