Etymology

Possibly 'hare grove,' v. grafa , though as the parish is on the Beds-Hunts border it is more likely to be 'boundary grove,' v. har . Cf. Harragrove PN D 233, Hargrave in Bockenhill (Wa) where three parishes meet, and Hargrave Barn in Sapperton (Gl), by the parish boundary.
