Etymology

Thatchams Copse (6″) is Thakholm c. 1400Rental , Thakholme grene 1530, Thackholme Coppice 1571 AD iii, Thackham 's Wood 1837EnclA . 'Thatch river-meadow,' v. holm . The name must have referred to low-lying marsh-land where reeds were gathered for thatching purposes.
