Etymology

This is a difficult name. It is on the dead level, and so cannot contain ODan  klint , 'hill.' It is on a stream, and it is possible that this is another example of the river-name Glym (e ) found in Oxfordshire (Glim in BCS 1043). Clemton may preserve a further trace of the m . For confusion of c and g , cf. Glendon and Glapthorn supra 113, 203.
