Etymology

For this name we may compare Corburn (PN NRY 14), Curtisknowle (PN D 300), Cortenhul (c. 1200Ashby ) in Moreton Pinkney, curten stapele (14th BCS 34), and Curtenersh (1255Ass (p)), both in Surrey, which suggest the likelihood of an OE  pers. name *Corta or *Curta , hence 'Corta 's nook of land,' v. healh .
