Etymology

This name is clearly identical with (Cold) Brayfield (PN Bk 3), ten miles away on the other side of Yardley Chase. When dealing with that name, it was suggested that the two names should be associated, and the element Bragen - taken as some old name for the area later known as Yardley Chase. See further s. n. Bransford (PN Wo 189).
