Etymology

Burray Spinney (6″) takes its name from Burweye (1404Fraunc ). Cf. Burrays Field 1716Map . This is clearly a compound of burh and weg , descriptive of the track which here leads up to a moated site in the village, or possibly of the same track as it comes up from the castle at Barnwell.
