'Pila's mor.' The name Pīl (a ) is not adduced in independent use, but it is found in a number of place-names: Pilsworth (PN La 54), Pilsgate (Nth), Pilesgete BCS 1128, and Pilsbury (Db), Pilesberie 1086 DB. A weak form Pīla enters into Pilham (L).
