Etymology

Kinesthorpe (lost), Kinestorp 1199 FF, 1263, 1268 Ipm, Kynesthop (sic)1226–36NCReg , Kinesthorp 1282 to 1335ib , Kynesthorp 1290 FF, 1361 Ipm; cf. Geoffr. de Kintorp 1238 Pat. The OE  pers.n. Cyne (originally weak, Redin 121, 181), which can be a short form of compound names like Cynestān (cf. Reaney s.n. Kin ), and þorp .
