Etymology

Roegreen Fm is Wrogrene 1574All Souls , Wroe croft juxta Wroe Greene 1632 ib., Rowe Green 1680 S. It may be that we should compare Wrolandes 1399–1413 HarrowRec, 12 acres called le Wroo 1422 ib., le Wrothe 1476 ib., all in Kingsbury. The initial w is well established and it looks as if we have a derivative of ON  vrá , 'nook, corner,' ME  wro , but such a form would be surprising in Middlesex. The last form seems to be irregular.
