Etymology

Gore Fm. Cf. Goreslea 1407 HarrowRec, Goreden 1445 ib., Goorfeldes , Goormed 1476 ib., Gore lane , Gowerlanegate 1565 ib.v. gara , leah , denu , feld , mæd . It is possibly Gor (1220 Cur) and here may have lived John de Gore (1307 FF). This was the Hundred meeting-place, v. supra 50.
