Etymology

Probably 'Tic (c )a 's ham,' the name being identical in origin with Tickenham (So), Ticaham , Ticheham 1086 DB. For loss of initial t , due to confluence with ME  at , cf. Oakington infra 53, Elstree (PN Herts 74), earlier Tiðulfes treow , and Ibsley (Ha) in DEPN (DB Tibeslei ).
