Etymology

Frith Manor is Fryth in Hyndon 1535 VE, Frith al. Newhall 1571 BM and was the home of Thomas Attefrethe (1274Ass ), de la Frithe (1294 ib.) and Valentine atte Fryth (1294 FF).v. fyrhðe , 'wooded country.' This was once a part of the old Middlesex woodland area.
