Etymology

'Þori's farmstead, village', v. , as is South Thoresby (LSR), from which it is distinguished as North . The pers.n. is ON  Þórir , ODan  Thorir , recorded from Lincolnshire independently as Thori and Tori in DB and frequently in the 12th and 13th centuries, v. Feilitzen 393–94 and SPNLY 307–9.
