Etymology

'The lime-tree wood', v. lind , wudu . The manor was held by the de Baiocis family, cf. John de Baiocis 1242–43 Fees, De Henrico le Bayousquam Willelmus de Baiocis quondam tenuit in Lindewod 1303 FA, Robert BayhousofLyndewode 1343 Cl, John Baiouse 1352 ib and “Bayhous Fee ”1462 Pat. It was later held by the Beaumont family, cf. Alice late the wife of Henry de Bello Monte 1340 Cl, Dominus de Bello Monte quondam Johannis Beyus 1428 FA.
