Etymology

Blue Stone (lost), Blue Stone 1707GrimsCLeet , 1822GrimsCB xv , 1831Monson , 1838Brace , 1840EnclA , the blew stone 1639GrimsCB viii , y e blewstone 1656ib , y e blew Stone 1694GrimsCLeet ; this was the name of an erratic, often called a Blue Stone in L, and shown on maps as being on the extreme eastern boundary of the town on the coast just north of the old Race Ground and actually now in Cleethorpes parish, infra . It is possible that some of the 17th century forms refer to Havelock Stone infra .
