Etymology

'The homestead, the estate of the Frōdingas', from the gen.pl. Frōdinga of the OE  group name Frōdingas 'the family, the dependents of Frōd (a )' and OE  hām 'a homestead, an estate'. Forms in -th - are due to Scand influence.
