Etymology

'The farmstead, village of the British', v. walh (wala gen.pl.), tūn .Spellings with u for l are due to AN influence. In the common suffixes, OE  (Angl ) wald has developed its later meaning 'high ground cleared of woodland'. Willielmus Malory , Willielmus Maulore held the manor in 1384, 1386 Fine.
