Etymology
Beaumont Hamel, 1925 Kelly; named from the village of Beaumont Hamel on the river Somme in northern France, the scene of fierce fighting in 1916 in the First World War and presum. reminiscent of its local topography, cf. the similar Vimy Ridge near Kinoulton, Notts.
