Barwell (cf. Barnewell sicke 1601, Barnewell seeke 1638, v. sík; if Barnewell is an early stream - name, then v. wella, with the OE   masc. pers. n. Beorna, but otherwise it is the surn. Barnwell of a family originally from the township of this name, 24 miles to the east in Northants.)
