Etymology

'The enclosure on the stream called the Hlutre', v. worð . *Hlūtre ('the clear or pure one', from OE  hlūt(t)or 'pure, clear, bright') is no doubt an older name for the river Swift whose earliest recorded form is Swift 1586 Camden.
