Etymology
'The east stream', v. ēast , wella . Eastwell is on a headwater of R. Devon which from here flows roughly eastwards before turning northeast. Thomas de Hendesovere held land in Eastwell in 1236 Fees. The fee of Arraby held three carucates here in 1242 ib. Robertus de Arraby still held this land l.13 Nichols.
