Etymology

'The north farmstead, village', v. norð , tūn . It was usually described as 'east' to distinguish it from King's Norton (alias West Norton), v. ēast . The parish abuts Hallaton and Goadby. Ricardus de Norton is cited as holding the manor in 1236 Fees.
