Etymology

waterfurris Hy 3, le Waterfourres 1352 (perh.' furrows where water tends to lie', v. wæter, furh; but v. Field 50 who argues that these were deeper furrows so ploughed in order to carry off surface water; it should be noted, however, that such furrows appear to be called alternatively Wet furrowes in Coston f. ns. (b) and Watriforowis in Eaton f. ns. (b))
