Hastoe Fm is Halstowe 1275FF , 1296SR (p), Halstouwe 1307 ib., Hawstowe t. Jas 1DuLa , Haster 1711 Sess, Harstow 1750 K.This is probably a compound of OE  heall and stow, 'hall- site.' Cf. such compounds as Costow (W) and Wistow (Y), formed respectively from cot(e) and wic .
