Etymology

Chaul End is Cawley 1603StPauls , Chauley oth. Chawley End oth. Challond 1769Recov and was the home of John de Challeye (1309 SR (Beds)) and Robert Chaleie (1332 ib.). v. leah . The first element might be the OE  cealf , 'calf,' but the forms are too late for any certainty.
