Shaftenhoe End is Sharpnowe 1564 Wills, Shafner end 1676 S, Shafton end 1728 Sal, Sharpenhoe End 1748Recov and was the home of Alan de Scarpenho (1294SR ). 'Sharp spur of land,' v. hoh . Cf. Sharpenhoe (PN BedsHu 165).
