Stover, Stover Bridge, of Stanford (a ), on Stanford (a )950 BCS 887, Stofford 1306Ass (p), Stonford 1322Ext (p), Stanforde 1327SR (p), Stover Bridge 1830 M. 'Stony ford', v. stān , ford , and for the form cf. Phonol. § 37 (c ). The ford linked Yate with Iron Acton across the Frome.
