Etymology

'Hill near a stream called Stour ', v. dūn . The name refers to the hill between the Frome and Bradley Brook; the latter would be the stream formerly called Stour (cf. Atkyns 204). There is some doubt about the origin of the r.n. Stour (cf. Stour i, 11supra ).
