Etymology

Glasspool Mill (lost), Glaspullemill 1375 Ipm, Glaspelmull (e )1389, 1391 RBBr, 1392 BrCh 190, Glaspulesmull 1433Asht 3, 'a water-mill in Stapleton called Glasshe mill ' 1539 ib; it was a water-mill within Barton Regis (1375 Ipm). Probably an old stream-name from OE  pyll 'stream, creek' with the first el. as in Glass Marsh (ii, 175 supra ) from PrWelsh  glas 'blue, green'. A field-name Glass mill leaze in 1842TA 183 (field no. 255) suggests that this was at grid point 156–602755.
