Etymology

The OE  form may well refer to Taddington as it is associated with Codeswelle which was presumably near Cutsdean (8supra ), from which Taddington is but a mile distant. 'Tāthere's farmstead', v. ing 4 , tūn . The OE  pers.n. Tāthere occurs (in the form Taðere ) in a Wo document (BCS 238) and as Tatheri in LVD.
