This farm now stands on high ground ½ mile west of the Churn, but if Eycot itself was near the river the name would mean 'cottage near the island or water-meadow', v. ēg , cot . The course of the river was affected by the construction of the fishpond in Rendcomb Park but there is still a small island ¼ mile south of the pond.
